Life with Cerebral Palsy and... with passion.
I'm a wheelchair Ballroom Dancer.
I started dancing in Poland and won my first medal in 1999. Later I won 6 more medals in other countries.
My dancing experience in Canada began in September 2012. Now I'm training with my teacher Andy Wong and I will participate with my current dance partner in all Ballroom dance events in BC.
Together with my reсent dance partners I won gold medal and Inspiration Award at Rocky Mountain Grand Prix dance competition in Calgary on October 24-26, 2014 and gold medal at Vancouver Chellenge Cup 2015.
I treat dance professionally as a serious sport. I believe that ballroom dancing negates boundaries between worlds of healthy and disabled people. Collaboration with a healthy partner is not only achievable but also very rewarding.
I can teach wheelchairs users by showing them on my own example how ballroom dancing can be very beneficial to young people with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities.
Wheelchair ballroom dancing is a great way of rehabilitation because it involves movements of almost the entire body, promotes gender self-awareness, helps improve memory and has many other additional benefits.
Wheelchair Dance Sport has been introduced to non-competitive program of Paralympic Summer Games.
My dream is to gather a group of wheelchair dancers for participation in Opening / Closing ceremony of Paralympic Games.
I would greatly appreciate your support and guidance in our development because we want to take a logical next step and get Wheelchair Dance Sport accepted as fully fledged Paralympic sport.
