A STRANGE ROSE

Far, far away ...
On the road, on the edge of a clearing grew a beautiful rose.
Every morning dew drops washed her face, and the warm rays of the sun gently caressed her petals.
A birch growing near the flower gave shelter from the rain and heat. The familiar nightingales sang beautiful songs and the crickets lulled her to sleep.
In the evenings the Rose loved listening to the tales of old, wise hedgehog, who answered all her questions.
But even he could not answer the very important question, which made her feel miserable. Hedgehogs do not know how to explain to her why she had no leaves, he could only say:
- Apparently, it had to be this way.
Although different, the rose was beautiful and her scent was so attractive that all the butterflies perched exclusively on her silky petals, which made the other flowers jealous.

One day a man on the road. He walked briskly, really in a hurry. He was nervous. Suddenly he stopped and looked at the rose. He came closer and leaned over her.
- You are very nice - said the man. - I'll give you to someone special. – And ... Without waiting for an answer sprang the flower.
Only after he noticed that the rose was without leaves.
- You are strange, different from all the flowers. Why don’t you have leaves?
- I do not know. – Replied the rose and repeated the words of the wise hedgehog - Apparently it had to be this way.
- You can’t be a gift for anyone – the man said reproachfully and added:
- I don’t need you.
The man threw the rose at his feet and walked away.

After a while another man walked this road.
He walked slowly and looked around admiring the countryside.
Suddenly he looked at the road and stopped seeing the rose. Carefully he picked the flower
and exclaimed with delight:
- What a beautiful flower! - I'll take you home, put you into the water, then put you into a pot and will grow you.
- No, leave me – the Rose protested. - I'm not like the other flowers, I’m not useful for anyone, because I can’t even be a gift!
- That's not true. - He denied. - You will be a great gift for me. You have such silky petals and no matter that you are a little different, for me, you're the most beautiful flower.
The man took the rose to his home and took care of her.
He opened the window every day to let the sun rays pamper his favorite flower and so the Rose’s old friends could visit her. The man listened with her to the songs of nightingales without forgetting to water the flower.
He just loved his rose, and she believed that she could be happy.
